I am a big fan of finger-picking style acoustic blues (also known as country blues). Though there are many great artists that I will refer to in future posts, one who is still alive and well is Roy Book Binder. This walrus mustached-bluesman is the real deal. He has been traveling and performing for the past 30 year and is a master of his craft- he really makes it look and sound easy. Roy was a chauffeur for the late, great Rev. Gary Davis and was also good friends with Pink Anderson (Pink Floyd took the "Pink" from Anderson's name). Roy's style closely resembles these artists.
Unfortunately, many of Roys best recorded songs are remakes. His repotoire of original songs is quite limited. My favorite album of his is called Traveling Man. Though he has a live album that seems quite good. Some of Roy's songs that are worth listening to are
and King Edward Blues.
New post on Monday… Have a great weekend!
